Kjell Mjølsnes was born in 1975 and his birding career began shortly after that. Living at Bryne, near Stavanger, with the famous birding hot-spots at Jæren all around him and a very flexible working situation as a storage manager gives him the opportunity to be out birding almost on a daily basis. All aspects of birds and birding interests him, but his main focus when out birding is finding rare birds. These days, few if anyone knows the birdlife and especially the seasonal changes at Jæren better than Kjell.

Besides actually being out birding Kjell has been the county recorder for Rogaland since 2000 and he is also a member of the National Raritees Committee (NSKF). Kjells girlfriend, Lene Bøe has a master degree in art history and cultural history. Kjell has derived a genuine interest in local cultural history from her, and a day out birding with him at Jæren could easily include a few stops to see some of Jærens historical sights and monuments.

Kjell is ready to pick you up at Stavanger Airport, Sola, at all hotels in the region or where you decide. Trip durations depend on what you want to see. Quite a few birds can be seen in a few hours just outside Stavanger, but a full day is recommended to give Jæren what it truly deserves. Longer regional trips to Lista or the famous bird island of Utsira can also be arranged.
